Shell Design & Protection Level
The Shoei RF-1200 comes in 4 different shell sizes that are all flexible, lightweight, and durable. This shell integrates a six-ply matrix and its dual-layer/multi-density EPS liner provides enhanced impact absorption. This dual-layer liner incorporates different densities to provide a balance with the absorption of an impact during a crash.
Now, it is manufactured with less weight that will give you more comfort, in addition to an excellent level of protection.
CWR-1 Shield System
The Shoei RF-1200 has a CWR-1 shield system with innovative new ribs on top and bottom to improve rigidity and eliminate the bending problem that sometimes occurs with wind pressure. It is equipped with the PINLOCK Evo system that provides an anti-fog feature. Not just that it will give you 99% protection against the sun’s UV rays.
With this face shield, you will have a wide field of vision and it has a QR-E Baseplate system. This newly designed system ensures a waterproof and windproof seal. It also has strengthened springs for more precise functionality.
In the event of a crash, the EQRS (Emergency Quick Release System) allows for the safe removal of the cheek pads from an injured rider’s helmet.
Ventilation System
The Shoei RF-1200 has an excellent ventilation system. There are a lot of vents in RF-1200 for airflow.
If we talk about the lower vents, it has a large 3-position lower vent with a shutter control that you can use even with gloves on. Once the vent is open, air will flow upward and through a pair of vents at the top. This lower vent will help you to control airflow inside your helmet.
On the other hand, the three upper vents and four upper exhaust vents will rotate the airflow inside the helmet’s top section. That means, even if inner ports are closed, exhaust vents will reduce internal air pressure.
So, I must say the ventilation system of Shoei RF-1200 is quite good. In fact, you will rarely see this type of ventilation system in this price range.
Noise Level
Actually, the noise level is a little high in the Shoei RF-1200 helmet in certain conditions. If the top vents are open for airflow then it can be a little noisy, as the air passes through the vent holes. It can be reduced by tilting the head forward. So, if you have a sports bike, you don’t face any noise issue with this helmet.
