The Scorpion Covert is an open-face motorcycle helmet with a drop-down sun visor and a front mask. Scorpion has a habit of experimenting with design and technologies. Now, it has designed one of the best 3/4 open-face motorcycle helmets. When I first looked at this helmet, I thought it was some sort of stormtrooper motorcycle helmet but on closer look, I found out it really isn’t. But thanks to its unique shape and design, it looks great anyway. It is a cool and stylish motorcycle helmet that will really make you stand out from the crowd!
What truly sets this helmet apart is the versatility that it offers when switching from a half-face helmet to an open-face helmet, and even further to a full-face helmet. It’s all possible because of two components, the rear comfort sleeve, and the face mask that Scorpion added to the Scorpion Covert motorcycle helmet.
Let’s find out more about the Scorpion Covert open-face motorcycle helmet:

Shell Design & Protection Level
The Scorpion Covert doesn’t have the TCT composite fiber shell as in the premium scorpion helmets but has an advanced LG polycarbonate shell, which is quite common in mid-range motorcycle helmets.
The company claims the advanced LG polycarbonate shell is developed exclusively by Scorpion and is engineered to give riders a lightweight, impact-absorbing shell. Well, the helmet meets the DOT standard so there’s no point in questioning the shell quality.
The good thing is, the Scorpion Covert is not a full-face motorcycle helmet, and on top of that, the helmet weighs only 2.93 lbs., a big factor for long rides.
Face Shield & Visor
The helmet incorporates a SpeedView internal tinted sun visor that reduces eyestrain from varying light conditions. The sun visor is retractable, meaning you can use the same tab to pull the shades and to retract the shade.
The visor has EverClear coating on both sides that makes it much easier for you to see and ride in a heavy fog.
Scorpion also added a clear visor with the Scorpion Covert helmet to ensure the rider has full visibility while riding at night.
Ventilation System
To enhance airflow, Scorpion chose the aero-tuned ventilation system for the Scorpion Covert Helmet. The helmet has two forehead intake vents with a slider to channel the air inflow that allows cool air to pass through the EPS to the rider’s head. Unfortunately, the helmet does not have any exhaust ports to remove the hot air pressure that may build up inside the helmet. But, to cover this, the Scorpion has rear bottom sleeves, which can convert your helmet from a 3/4 helmet to a half-face helmet and vice-versa.
The front mask that the Scorpion Covert comes with also has a ventilation port that will allow air to pass through the mask to the rider’s face. This mask will also protect the rider from bugs and debris in the air. This removable front mask comes with Neodymium Magnets on each side of the mask. When installing the mask all you have to do is remove the caps from the slots and slide the tabs into the slots. To remove it, just push the small button on each side of the mask. You can install or remove the mask as per your requirement.
Interior & Comfort Level
The interior liner of the helmet is made from KwikWick II, which is an anti-microbial comfort liner. The crown and cheek pads are fully removable and washable. But, I would advise you to hand-wash them instead of using a washing machine.
The KwikWick II liner is designed exclusively by Scorpion, which will keep you cool in summer and warm in winter.
There’s no doubt that the helmet works three-ways but I would not recommend this helmet to use in the winter. Also, the helmet may protect you from bugs and debris but please remember, it is not a full-fledged, full-face helmet.

Overall, it is a great deal to have a motorcycle helmet that can be used as a half-face, open-face, and full-face. The manufacturing quality and design also look like a premium product. Plus, the helmet meets all DOT safety standards.
The only issue is the facial protection. While using in full-face mode with a front mask, the helmet failed to provide the facial protection that you will need while riding. Also, the front mask will not benefit from blocking the winds of winter.
But, if you plan to buy an open-face helmet, then the Scorpion Covert would be a good choice.
