William Gibson once said, “The future is already here, it’s just not very evenly distributed.” You know he is not wrong! The future is here, it’s just that we do not see it clearly. In fact, we are in the early stages of fully electric-powered motorcycles and bikes, cars, and electric scooters. But, day-by-day, we are getting close to reducing the problems arising from traffic pollution. For example, vehicle owners who once used their personal freedom by traveling on their own schedules are now compromising their freedom by commuting in small groups. But, even so, we can’t necessarily depend on vehicles remaining the same. Plus, cities are becoming more crowded than ever but eliminating private transport is difficult to imagine.
So, the question is raised, what is the future of personal transport?
Well, one thing is clear. Private ownership and personal transport will be staying forever. It is because there are some regions and classes of people who will not just abandon personal transport. Currently, looking at our non-renewable energy resources like oil that has a direct influence on the economic growth of a country, which has forced big automobile companies to work on the solar and electric segment. Even still, some believe that motorcycles don’t have much room to grow. On the contrary, there are a lot of things, which can be improved on the individual level.
Many big companies, such as Bosch and Harley are trying to reduce the number of fatal injuries happening in motorcycle accidents. Through technology, companies are trying to reduce everyday motorcycle accidents where people are dying every day.
What Changes Can We Expect In Future Motorcycles?
Stating the obvious, motorcycle riders are more vulnerable when accidents occur than car drivers and a motorcycle rider is more exposed to accidents.
Well, of course! There are so many ways to get injured during a motorcycle ride. For example, many rookie motorcyclists tend to use the brakes while cornering the motorcycle.
Here is a piece of advice for you. “Try not to use the brakes while cornering otherwise; you will be a victim of a low-side crash.”
So, to minimize this human error, implement an advanced monitoring system unit, in which motorcyclists can calculate the lean angle, position, and speed. So, if you hit the brakes, you will be able to maintain traction.
The second troubling activity is using smartphones while riding. I am going to be honest, this is one risky activity that you should never do, not even on an empty road with no traffic. So, in order to keep our smartphones in our pockets, a futuristic integrated connectivity app has been designed, which can sync apps on the motorcycle’s screen. On top of that, you can easily control it with your fingers without removing your hand from the handlebar.
At least then, most riders will be able to keep their eyes on the road.
And the best for the last. In fact, this last one is the most important after considering our current non-renewable energy resources. We can presume that motorcycles and bikes will improve with time, in the context of fuel efficiency. The futuristic modern motorcycles need to develop with time – and that means improving efficiency to reduce consumption. In order to do that, companies need to work on adjusting the fuel injection system to reduce emissions. Although it seems like a simple idea, any small modification in the engine management has to be approved by legal standards. But, unfortunately, our currency technologies are not advanced enough to execute fully advanced engines in creating efficient and easy-to-charge bikes and scooters. Not yet.
With big companies working towards the future of two-wheeled vehicles, the motto is clear – save something, whether it is a life, a motorcycle, car, scooter, or the planet. But, one thing is clear, in order to achieve green energy success, one has to push the limits of physics and create technologies that can save lives.
My hope is that we achieve it very soon.
